What Your Cocktail Says About You

Your drink order might be saying more than you think

This Weeks Makings.

You can tell a lot about someone by what they order.

The friend who always orders a Margarita. The one who confidently asks for a Martini. The one who says, “Surprise me.”

Whether it’s true or not, we all make assumptions.

This week, we’re having a little fun with the psychology of drink orders and what your go-to cocktail might say about your personality.

In this issue:

  • What your drink order might reveal

  • Why people order aspirationally

  • A bold Drink of the Week with personality

  • Bonus cocktails for every mood

  • A zero proof option that still says “I know what I’m doing”

Answer at the bottom of the newsletter

Mexican Coffee Martini

Bold, smooth, and just a little mysterious.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz tequila

  • 1 oz coffee liqueur

  • 1 oz chilled espresso or cold brew concentrate

  • 0.5 oz crème de cacao

  • 0.25 oz cinnamon syrup

Method

  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker filled with ice.

  2. Shake vigorously until well chilled and slightly frothy.

  3. Strain into a chilled martini or coupe glass.

  4. Garnish with coffee beans or a light dusting of cinnamon.

Why this drink matters

This cocktail has personality. Tequila adds warmth and edge, coffee brings richness, chocolate softens the bitterness, and cinnamon adds intrigue.

It says confident… with a little fun.

What Your Cocktail Says About You

Of course, your drink order doesn’t define you.

But it can say something.

People often order drinks in one of three ways:

Comfort Orderers
These are the people who know exactly what they like and stick with it. Think Margaritas, Mojitos, and old faithful favorites.

They value consistency.

Aspirational Orderers
These are the “I’ll have a Martini” people… even if they secretly don’t love Martinis.

Sometimes we order who we want to be.

A bold drink can feel like confidence in a glass.

Adventurous Orderers
These are the “What’s your favorite thing to make?” people.

They trust the bartender and enjoy discovery.

The funny thing is, drinks carry identities.

A Negroni says bold.
A Margarita says fun.
A Old Fashioned says classic.
A coffee martini says… “I’m not done yet.”

And maybe that’s why cocktail culture is so interesting.

Sometimes we order for taste.

Sometimes we order for mood.

Sometimes we order for the version of ourselves we want to feel like that night.

A few tools to make your own statement at home:

Because presentation says something too.
