Trivia Question❓
Which famous fictional spy is known for ordering his martinis "shaken, not stirred"?
Answer at the bottom of the newsletter

🍸 Drink of the Week: Sake Martini
A softer, more delicate take on the classic martini - perfect for warm evenings when you want something crisp, clean, and effortlessly elevated.
Ingredients:
2 oz gin (or vodka if you prefer)
1 oz dry sake
Thin cucumber slice (garnish)
Directions:
Fill a mixing glass with ice.
Add gin and sake.
Stir for 30 seconds until well-chilled.
Strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass.
Garnish with a cucumber slice.
Flavor note: It’s botanical and dry like a martini, but with the umami silkiness of sake. It goes down like a whisper and leaves a lasting impression.
🍊 Bonus Stirred Cocktails
1. Negroni Bianco
1 oz gin
1 oz blanc vermouth
1 oz Suze (or Cocchi Americano)
Stir over ice and strain into a rocks glass over a large cube. Garnish with orange peel.
2. Boulevardier
1 oz bourbon
1 oz Campari
1 oz sweet vermouth
Stir and serve over ice. Garnish with a cherry or orange twist.
🍃 Mocktail Moment: Cucumber Green Tea Refresher
Ingredients:
4 oz cold-brewed green tea
0.5 oz fresh lime juice
0.5 oz honey syrup (1:1 honey + hot water)
Cucumber ribbon + mint
Stir in a tall glass over ice and garnish with cucumber and mint. It's crisp, refreshing, and adult in all the right ways.
The Art of the Stir
Recently, after a long, busy summer dinner party, I found myself alone in the kitchen at golden hour. No more blending, shaking, or muddling - in the kind of quiet that begs you to do things slowly.
That’s when I remembered: there’s magic in the stir.
It’s not just about combining ingredients - it’s about chilling with intention. Stirring gently gives the cocktail time to come together, to mellow, to shine.
The first sip of that sake martini? Cool, soft, layered. No splash. No clink. Just quiet, cool brilliance.
Stirring reminds you: not everything worth savoring needs to be flashy.
Upgrade Your Stir Game
Want to feel like a real pro with minimal effort? Here’s your toolkit:
🧊 Viski Crystal Mixing Glass — elegant, heavy base, perfect for quiet cocktail prep
🌀 Stainless Steel Bar Spoon — long enough for any glass, great for layering and swirling
"Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort."
💡 Answer to Trivia Question:
James Bond. But fun fact - most bartenders agree that stirring is better for clear-spirited cocktails like martinis. Stirring preserves the silky texture and keeps your drink crystal clear.
Another fun fact? While I love the simplicity and elegance of the stirred cocktail, if I’m ordering a straight up martini I also always have it shaken, super cold, so I guess me and 007 have something in common 😉.
🏁 Closing Time
This week, slow it down. Let the ice do the work. Whether you’re sipping a Sake Martini or a cucumber refresher, stirring offers more than just chill - it offers calm.
So here’s to the art of simplicity.
To the quiet clink of a bar spoon.
To cocktails that don’t shout, but whisper sophistication.
Cheers,
Andrea
