Interesting Facts

  • Canadians spell whisky "whisky" because of their close ties with Scotland. As opposed to the United States spelling that includes an 'e' (whiskey).
  • Canadian Whiskey must be aged in wooden barrels for at least three years before it can be legally sold.
  • The term "rye whiskey" in Canada doesn't necessarily mean the whiskey is made primarily from rye grain, unlike in the United States.
  • Canadian Whiskey is commonly known for its smooth and mellow flavor profile due to the use of high-quality grains and a unique distillation process.
  • Most Canadian whisky is blended, with each grain distilled separately and then blended in different ways. The most important person in a Canadian whisky distillery is called the master blender, not the master distiller, because the flavor can be adjusted during blending. Learn More Here
