Drink of the Week

Celebrate the lively spirit of Brazil with a spring-summer twist on their national cocktail. Combining fresh berries, lime, sugar, and cachaça, this drink is a fruity version of the classic Caipirinha, reflecting the lush seasonal fruits of late spring and early summer.

What in the world is Cachaça?

Like rum, cachaça (pronounced kə-ˈshä-sə) comes from the sugarcane plant. Also known as pinga, caninha, and other names, it is the most popular spirit among distilled alcoholic beverages in Brazil. For more interesting facts check out this article from The Smithsonian Mag

DIY: International Ingredients

Tamarind Syrup

Tamarind syrup is a versatile ingredient that can add a unique tangy and sweet flavor to cocktails, enhancing their complexity and depth. Its rich, sour-sweet profile makes it especially suitable for creating balanced and intriguing drinks. Tamarind syrup can also be a fantastic addition to mocktails, providing depth and complexity that enhances non-alcoholic ingredients.

Ingredients:

1 cup tamarind paste

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

Steps:

      1. In a saucepan, combine all ingredients.
      2. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook until the mixture thickens to a syrup consistency (about 10-15 minutes).
      3. Strain the syrup to remove any solids and let it cool.
      4. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator.

Bar Hack of the Week

"Quick Cooling Hack" - Freeze grapes or berries and use them as colorful, edible ice cubes in your drinks. They’ll keep your cocktails cold without diluting the flavors as they slowly melt.
