Cocktail of the Week: Campfire Mules

Image: RACHEL VANNI

Looking to put the "BOO" in Boozy? For this twist on a Moscow mule, we’ve replaced the vodka with some smoked bourbon or whiskey, added some maple syrup for a touch of autumn magic, kept our lemon juice and ginger beer as our old-time residents, and included an optional roasted marshmallow to garnish.

Ingredients

Ice

1 1/2 oz. smoked bourbon or whiskey

1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice

1/4 oz. pure maple syrup

4 oz. ginger beer

Marshmallows, for serving (optional)

HOW TO MAKE IT

  • Fill a rocks or wine glass with ice. Add bourbon, lemon juice, and syrup and gently stir to combine. Top off with beer and stir again to combine.
  • Toast marshmallows (if using) with a blowtorch or directly over the flame of a gas stove. Thread marshmallows onto a stick and garnish glass.
